This individual will perform molecular biology, expression analysis, expression optimization and scale-up for the purpose of supplying protein reagents to support protein therapeutics and small molecule drug discovery efforts. The individual will perform this function with considerable independence, toward well-defined objectives, and will display initiative in learning new techniques.Job Responsibilities- Carry out molecular biology, expression analysis, expression optimization, and scale-up for the production of protein reagents in support of protein therapeutics and small molecule drug discovery efforts, including protein engineering, HTS, biophysical characterization of compounds and structural efforts.- General cell culture and lab supply maintenance to support ongoing function of the group.- Perform calculations and draws conclusions regarding progress and results of work.- Assist with the organization and maintenance of plasmid and cell line stocks- Read and understands the scientific and technical literature in order to bring new and improved procedures to the laboratory. Quickly learns and accurately performs new procedures involving a range of technologies.- Demonstrate oral and written presentation skills.- Prepare and present project summaries at team meetings, SBCC meetings, and through monthly summary reports.- Contribute to the preparation of patents and/or papers for peer review journals.Requirements- A Bachelors Degree is required preferably with a Life Science major.Relocation is not available for this position.
