AUREC
Medical Product Manager/Scientific Liaison
* Newly created role
* Niche specialist products
* Exciting growth phase
My client is a global pharmaceutical company who have recently established themselves in Australia and due to an exciting product pipeline, they are looking to bring on a National Sales and Marketing Specialist to launch a new product in a very niche technical area.
This newly created role requires a mix of scientific and marketing skills and would suit somebody looking for the challenge of driving forward this niche area of the business. Currently, very little is known about the disease state and the patient population so the initial objective will be to get out in the field and identify the KOL’s and patients and initiate patient support groups.
This is a varied and interesting role and although you will be given the freedom to plan your days/weeks as you see fit, it is anticipated that for the first 6 to 12 months you will spend approximately 60% of your time out in the field building relationships with key prescribers, decision makers and stakeholders. A scientific background is essential as you will be discussing highly technical information with Specialists. The other 40% of the role will be office based product management which will include planning and implementing a local business strategy and establishing advisory board meetings.
To be successful in this role you will need:
* Sales and/or marketing experience in a niche area
* Previous medical marketing experience or MSL experience will be highly regarded
* A relevant scientific degree – PhD or Masters will be highly regarded
* In-depth scientific knowledge with the ability to discuss highly complex disease states with Medical Specialists
* Experience of orphan medicines is desirable
* Project management skills
* A self starter with the ability to work autonomously
* Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
* Professional presentation
Due to the nature of these products and the rare disease states they treat, this role will not evolve into a typical sales management role with large teams of Sales Reps. Having said that, there are 2 specialist drugs due for release over the next 2 years and this role presents the opportunity to become a core member of a dynamic company on the brink of an exciting growth phase and this will certainly open up doors to move and grow within the business.
If you would like to find out more about this unique opportunity and the fresh new challenge it presents then please submit your resume by following the online prompts or e-mail directly to smcginnity@aurec.com.au
