Director/Senior Director Medical Research

My client a leading force in the industry is expanding its Oncology programme. Specifically my client's portfolio targets a range of solid and haematological malignancies. San Diego, California is the base for the Oncology Research and Development activities however my client is committed to global development of its pipeline and requires an industry experienced Oncologist to lead its ex US Medical Research efforts and play a strategic and clinical leadership role in developing and implementing the clinical programme strategy.

Depending upon your level and breath of experience the successful candidate will be graded at Director or Senior Director level.

You key responsibilities will include


- Provide strategic leadership for clinical programmes, integrating research, Regulatory, and Medical Research goals and needs
- Provide leadership and direction for European/international standard of care for Oncology clinical trials.
- Create and revise Clinical Development Plan(s) (CDP).
- Oversee development of multiple clinical development programs within the Oncology therapeutic area, in collaboration with the global clinical development teams
- Establish appropriately aggressive clinical development timelines, incorporating key decision points and go/no go criteria for each CDP
- Manage clinical programme budget(s) within stated financial goals
- Develop and maintain relationships with programme counterparts in Commercial, Research, Medical, Regulatory, and medical Affairs (where appropriate)
- Develop and maintain global collaborative relationships
- Develop a network of Key Opinion Leaders
- Manage a team of co-located Clinical Scientists
- Participate as a collaborative team member in the UK R&D Leadership Team

As the successful candidate you will have a proven ability within Oncology and as well as strong personal attributes that lead to the leadership and building of teams you will also be medically qualifies and ideally hold a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine.
